The International Schools Book Awards concludes today 28th June 2020.
The winner was announced by Mr. Michael Wilson – Principal Cranleigh Abu Dhabi via video message from the Cranleigh Abu Dhabi Prep School Library.
Katherine Rundell accepted the Award for her latest children’s book: The Explorer. The book brings the reader on a wonderous Amazon adventure of travel, bravery, imagination and mystery. A huge congratulations to Katharine for this beautiful book.
Three books were selected by a panel of readers from Cranleigh Abu Dhabi and Cranleigh UK and included:
Sir Michael Morpurgos’ Kensuke’s Kingdom
and
MG Leonard and Sam Sedgman’s The Highland Falcon Thief.
The theme for the Awards was Travel and all three books circulated around this. In a time when travel is restricted, we journeyed across the world on colourful voyages fueled by intriguing mysteries and tales of adventure with the International School, Book Awards.
A number of International Schools participated in the Awards and Book Review Competition with the following eloquent pupils scooping the Book Review prizes:
Aaron – Cranleigh Abu Dhabi – for his review of The Explorer
Blanca – Repton Abu Dhabi – for her review of Kensuke’s Kingdom
Kavshi – Brighton College, Abu Dhabi for her review of The Highland Falcon Thief.
Thank you to all involved for the fantastic support of the inaugural International Book Awards. We hope the Awards have reinforced a love of reading and enabled an imaginative escape to a world of adventure and bravery. We can’t wait to layer this project further next year and our avid panel of readers are already researching our book list for 2021.
