Prep School (Ages 7 - 13)

In a caring environment, children grow in their love of learning through stimulating lessons that stretch all abilities within small classes. The aim of the Prep School is to build firm foundations in all subjects, paving the way for deeper understanding and more complex ideas in the Senior School.

Years 3 to 6

In Years 3 and 4 pupils are taught in mixed ability classes for most subjects and are set by attainment for Maths and Arabic. The majority of lessons are taught by their Class Teacher, with specialist teachers delivering Drama, Music, P.E, Art, French, Arabic and Islamic Studies. As pupils move into Years 5 and 6, the model moves to far more specialist teaching and the pupils begin to move around our campus with growing independence, enjoying the use of our specialist labs, studios and workshops.

Years 7 to 8

In Years 7 and 8, pupils continue to be grouped in mixed ability tutor groups and they are set by attainment for Maths, English, Arabic, French, Spanish and the Sciences. This is also the first stage at which they can begin to make some choices over their curriculum, such as French or Spanish. The benefits of the Cranleigh Skills Curriculum come to the fore in these Year groups as pupils extend their intellectual boundaries. As leaders in the Prep School, these two years give our pupils the opportunity to flourish in their academic achievement and personal development.
