For example, GCSE results for the academic year 2019/20 saw 34 per cent of all grades at grade 9; 79 per cent of all grades at 7 – 9 (equivalent to A*-A); and 99 per cent of senior students achieved GCSE grades 4 – 9 (equivalent to A*- C).

Such grades reverberated across the emirate, proving to be the best results in Abu Dhabi.

Outstanding Extended Project Qualifications

There are few schools beyond the UK’s borders that can outperform schools within the UK itself, in terms of Extended Project Qualifications (EPQ), yet this is exactly what Cranleigh Senior School has managed to achieve.

The EPQ qualification stretches and challenges students’ capabilities beyond the curriculum, teaching university-level skills.

Eighty-six per cent of Sixth Form students achieved grades of an A* and A, and 96 per cent achieved a B grade or above, whereas in the UK, the National Average results showed 56 per cent A*/A and 77 per cent achieved a B grade or above.

World Citizens in the making

Senior students get to interact and participate in initiatives led by entities such as International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), Model United Nations (MUN) and the UN’s Global Goals Public Speaking competition.

An incredible 127 students were regular international speakers addressing global issues on the world stage.

Sixty-four students were involved in student-led Wellbeing and Outreach Committees, not to mention the Year 12 Futures’ programme whereby students undertake a two-hour weekly placement of work experience over a twenty-week period.

Small class sizes, extra-curricular activities, critical global thinking are just some of the ingredients that help create future changemakers.

Take Lydia Sanz Lozano for example, who came to Cranleigh for the Sixth Form, making the most of every opportunity to capitalise on the support, direction and expertise that the school provides.

Lydia was one of 17 students who interned at the IRENA 10th Assembly, experiencing first-hand the proceedings of the governing bodies of an inter-governmental organisation including 161 country representatives. Lydia was chosen to deliver the keynote

The efforts of the students caught the attention of IRENA who commented on the maturity with the students responded to the assigned.

The spotlight also shone on Eisha Segal, Cranleigh Senior School Head Girl who in 2020 won the Ed Goodwin BSME Award for Exceptional Services to her community, which is just one of many accolades that this shining student has received. Eisha used her skills to actively lead the Charity Community.
