Sixth Form Event

On Sunday, 17 February we are hosting an event in our new Sixth Form building for interested parents and individuals to learn more about the Cranleigh Sixth Form and what it has to offer. This event will run from 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm, and will include brief welcoming remarks by Michael Wilson, Principal, and Matthew Ford, Head of Senior School, followed by an informal ‘expo’ showcase led by current Sixth Formers.

This evening is being held for parents, as pupils will have their own events during tutor time. Whilst Year 10 parents will of course be able to attend a similar event next year, those who may already be considering their options are very welcome to attend.

Our Sixth Form pupils will be on hand to talk informally about their A Levels, how they learn, and the wide range of opportunities open to them, such as the Extended Project Qualification, BioMedical Society, Law Society, Model UN, work experience programs and a variety of leadership opportunities.

A reception will be available with refreshments for parents to engage in conversation and learn more from current pupils and teachers.

To accommodate to different schedules, the welcoming remarks will be delivered every 30 minutes (at 5:30pm6pm and 6:30pm) for those who are able to attend at different times, while the expo will be ongoing throughout the evening.

Please RSVP here and be sure to register for the start time that best suits you.

Incorporating the Cranleigh philosophy that addresses the whole child, Cranleigh Sixth Form provides an innovative approach to teaching that works inside out rather than top down. Classrooms are organised to maintain an engaging atmosphere and to foster a lifelong love of learning by allowing students to take charge of their own learning process. With some classes incorporating the Harkness style learning, Sixth Form students are seated around an oval table to further develop their independent thinking in a dialogue-based method.

A Level programs are tailored to each student based on their own aims and aspirations, with a focus on their specific career pathways. With a strong and personalised support system, students are encouraged to make smart subject choices and a sustained commitment to their chosen field of study. As an example, Cranleigh Sixth Form provides certified pre-college courses in innovation and entrepreneurship led by Columbia University Business School. Students are also able to complete their Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award and incorporate different national and international leadership platforms through the Scholars Programme.
